Explore the Data Catalog
Where: sidebar → Data Catalog → Databases or Tables.
The catalog describes managed data available through the platform. External structures discovered by a crawler belong in Source Schema, not automatically in this catalog.
Choose a database
Open Databases and select a database you are authorized to access. The database workspace brings together its tables, pipelines, and sources.
Inspect a table
Choose a table from that database or from Tables. Review its columns and types, available snapshots, and a server-limited preview of rows.
Continue your analysis
Use Open in SQL where offered to continue in Query, or Ask AI to start a database-focused conversation. These actions remain subject to your role and data permissions.
When a table is missing
- Check that you selected the correct database and have the necessary catalog access.
- If a pipeline should create the table, inspect its latest execution and target configuration.
- If only a crawler has run, remember that metadata discovery does not materialize source rows.
- Ask an administrator to review access rules; an empty list is not proof that no data exists.
Creating or changing catalog resources
Authorized users can create managed databases through the catalog UI. Create only approved names and training resources for examples. Review resource-changing actions carefully: deleting or renaming a catalog resource can affect dependent queries and pipelines.
A table preview is capped by the server. It is not a full export, and its row count should not be used as the total table count.
See Groups and catalog access when a database or table is hidden or denied.
